For once we had a lot of time so we were able to wander around the grounds. This temple was in the woods and there were some fantastic looking trees.
Hidden here and there we little glens, often with a small shrine like the one below.
At one point we discovered a large statue half hidden in the woods.
The statue had a very interesting face. It lack the usual ultra calm look, and instead, to me, looked sad.
The statue was part way up a low rise and had a short flight of stairs leading to it. Notice the large tree root growing along the ground next to the sign post on the right.
