When we were buying tickets for the train back to Sendai Station, I noticed these pamphlets about the area. The bunch on the right are in English, on the left Korean, and the two in the middle are in Chinese. I guess this must say something about the numbers of people who come here.
Here is Tsubasa and his mother, Kyoko, looking at the airport set that we bought him.
His mother told him that while he was on the train he could play with one of the included toys. Here he is pointing out the one he wanted.
He has taken it out of the box and Kyoko is closing it up again.
Here he is practicing takeoffs and landings with his new toy airplane.

At Sendai Airport
We had lunch at one of the restaurants inside the airport. This boat model was about a meter high. It is the San Juan Bautista, built by the local daimyo in 1613.
Here is Tsubasa watching the planes taking off. He seemed to really enjoy this and later when we offered to buy him a toy, he wanted a set with an airplane and the ground equipment.
In the distance you can see the elevated tracks for the train the we rode on.
This is looking toward the ocean, the direction from which the tsunami came.
The ocean is visible behind the tree line. There used to be many trees along here but many of them were pulled out by the tsunami.
Inside the airport the had a real airplane on display. Tsubasa was interested but I think it was too small to be fascinating for him

At the Sendai Airport
This is a train sitting in the airport station. Recently they have been decorating some of the trains and buses.
This is Tsubasa sitting at the controls of a full scale model train. The penguin is advertising a prepaid card called Suika, which actually means watermelon. The card can be used to pay for tickets at the wickets as you walk through, rather than going to a machine and buying a ticket.
This is a sign place here by a Sendai hotel. In both English and Japanese it asks everybody to pull together for the future. Everywhere you look there are sign encouraging people to get the area back to normal.
Here is Tsubasa at the controls of the model train.
This is the main access road to the airport buildings, which are to the right. This entire area was inundated by the tsunami. I have seen pictures of cars being borne along with a few meters of water between them and the road. Today everything has been repaired and you would never know that there had been a series of severe tremors and a tsunami.

Going to Sendai Airport
Here is another picture of one of the men working on the roof of the Izumi Chuo subway station.
On the levee next to my apartment complex there are some cherry trees. On this day it was rainy.
Here are the same trees the next day when it was sunny. On this day my wife, daughter, grandson and I took a trip to the Sendai airport. We were just starting out when I took this picture.
This is my grandson Tsubasa.
While I was taking the picture of Tsubasa, the sun came out and the colors on the cherry trees got brighter, so I took another picture.
We took the subway to Sendai Station and then got on the train to the airport. I had to sit across the car from the others so I used the space to take their picture. I am sure you can figure out who is who.
