A little further up the hill, Ian and I found a path leading off into the woods. These signs say that it is about half a kilometer to the top of the hill.
A bit further and we found a hand lettered sign that pointed the way to our goal - the building with the statue of Kannon. The top board says the the building is about 400 meters away. We decided that we should still continue on the road, since there had to be easy access to the temple from the road - for people who drove there or came by bus.
We finally reached the parking lot but bypassed it and started up the hill behind it.
Going just a little bit higher, we found that the view was awesome, but not as impressive as it might have been on a sunny day.
