Day 4 - at the top and down again

As we approached Temple #12 we had to go up a flight of stone stairs. These, and the many others like them, were interesting because they were irregular, requiring constant attention to your feet. Thus, the simple process of walking became a concentration meditation. Ian and I seldom talked on these portions of the trek, even when I was not panting from the exertion.
The trail followed the side of a little mountain stream. It was very peaceful and pleasant. One interesting thing that we noticed was that there were no birds - either because we were so high or because there was less to eat than around the built up areas, or maybe both.
Ian taking a much deserved break. The trail is the line of rough stones that you can see going off into the woods.
This statue was quite large and acts as a guardian, preventing evil from approaching the temple.
This interesting little statue had a Buddha inside the sphere. We were now walking on a paved road and obviously get close to the temple grounds.
