Going down was far worse than going up the mountain. On the steep down slopes my legs started shaking and it was harder and harder to stop my momentum at the end of each step. However, there were many places where we came out of the trees and discovered beautiful views of the surrounding mountains.
At one point we crossed the access road to Temple #12 and found this little statue at the point where we headed into the wilderness again.
As we got nearer to Temple #12 we spent more time on the access road and there were some of the best views of the whole trip. These may me think that the physical struggle was worth it.
Except for the temple and its access road there was absolutely nothing for many kilometers. On some of the valley floors there are small isolate farms but there are few roads. I looked at the area on Google Earth and was amazed at how isolated the temple is.
