Another art show

My art class is now calling itself the "Izumi Art Club" and we are having an art show in a gallery in the center of Sendai. We are each taking turns staying at the show to answer questions and that sort of thing. My turn was yesterday and I have to go again today. This first picture shows a woman looking at my pictures (the two on each side of her). The flowers were sent by some art group. It is traditional in Japan to send flowers for almost any public event. The flowers are used to decorate the locale. I think that it is a very nice tradition.
I have a total of eight pictures in the show. The four bigger ones on the wall and the following four smaller ones, which are being displayed in what the teacher is calling the 'Charlie Corner'.
This is what I consider the best of these pictures, so I will show it first. The house is one that I saw in Shikoku when I did the Ohenro Pilgrimage, and I have show it on this blog before.
This is one of the smaller pictures; the frame is about the size of a sheet of paper. It was done with very fine tipped colored pens. This picture somewhat washes out the color, which are a bit darker and much more subtle.
I will post more pictures from the show tomorrow.

Going to the movies 03

In most places in Sendai, even the public trash is divided into burnable, plastic, and PET. However, near where we were sitting there was a type of trash can that I had never seen before. It was for plastic bottle caps. The PET bottles went into the can you can just see on the left. In homes we always separate the caps and the the plastic sleeves from the PET bottle, but I had never seen a provision for it in a public place.
It was almost time for Harry Potter to start so we entered the theater and bought our tickets. We both can not get an 'old people's' discount so it only cost 1000 yen each. We stopped at the refreshment stand, in the distance in the picture below, and got popcorn and took our seats.
After enjoying the movie, we exited the theater complex and decide to eat in this restaurant. It specializes in ramen, noodles in soup with various thing on it.
From our seats we could see into the kitchen and watched them make our meal. I had ramen with lots of vegetables on the top.

Going to the movies 02

This is looking back toward the theater. The name of the theater/gaming complex is Korona World.High up on the wall in front of us were signs listing the names of the stores in this part of the shopping center. Notice the one in the middle of the top row. It is a beauty shop. The one to the left of it is called Card Kingdom. The kids here are in the midst of a craze over card games, ones where they collect cards by buying or trading. There are several different games and the details are different but basically the game is to put out some cards and the winner gets all the cards. Most of the games have monsters or something like that in them and the cards represent individuals, their qualities and abilities, and weapons. They seem to be more popular than electronic games.
We weren't the only ones sitting there waiting for something.
The shopping mall is basically no smoking but here and there you can find small outdoor smoking areas with ashtrays. This man stopped for a smoke at the spot nearest us.

Going to the movies

With our backs to the theater, we walked into the shopping center. The building on the right contains a supermarket but it was not open yet. So, we walked on passed it toward the area in the middle of the picture. In a little open area just past the supermarket, we found a Christmas tree, in spite of the fact that it was only Thanksgiving Day in the US.

There was a sitting area with tables and chairs, so we decided to wait there.
A lot of people came by, some apparently going through the center to another place and some going to one of the stores to report for work.
