A walk around the neighborhood 04

Still walking away from home but toward a bridge that will allow me to recross the river and turn toward home, I passed this workshop. Apparently they make prefabricated metal structures such as stairs - a partially finished stairway is to the right of the blue barrel.
This is the back of one of those 'Surprised Donkey' restaurants that I have shown before. From this side it looks like the remains of a building after an earthquake.
Japan has been improving the rivers, streams, and canals for more than 1500 years so they network is quite extensive and is kept in good repair. One of the interesting things is that most of them still follow the original paths. This sinuous stretch enters the main river just a couple of hundred meters toward the background of this picture.
This shows one of the incongruous sights that we often find in Japan. In the middle of a residential area, there is a parking area for construction vehicles and a truck garden. The vegetables may be eaten by the farmer or they may show up in a local market.
