This is very typical of Japanese back roads. It is a two way street but it is just about one lane wide. If two cars meet, one has to back up or squeeze into a driveway.
I decided to take a long walk and visit a temple and some shrines that I can see from the Shinkansen when I go into Fukuoka. This is the view looking north from the entrance to my apartment.
Beside the road in a little garden, this large chile plant was sitting there minding its own business. I suspect that in many countries these would disappear just about at the time they became ripe, but not here.
This is the front yard of a traditional style home. Again the gardeners have trimmed the trees so they look like something from a woodblock print.
