After doing our routine (candles, chanting, etc), we looked in through the open doors of the main hall and saw a very nice shrine.
Since it was early in the afternoon, we were able to explore the grounds. Below is Ian ringing the temple bell.
As we walked around, we discovered these two statues nestled in the roots of an old tree. I was a bit surprised to see that people were leaving seashells as offerings. It is a common practice for Buddhists to pile up stones, making an impromptu stupa or pagoda, but I had never seen seashells left in this way.
Here is another little statue, which someone has clothed with a bright red bib. This also has seashell offerings, as well as stones, around its base.
This was an old well that had supplied the temple with water in the past. Notice that the statue on the left has a white bib tied around its neck.
