As I started to leave the shrine grounds I looked across the street and saw this apartment building. Notice all the rugs, towels and things hanging from the balconies. Most Japanese air out small rugs, towels, and bedding every day.

Near the entrance, there was a stone with a shimenawa and some offerings. Shinto often equates stones and other natural structures to the gods.
