Ian and I left Temple #11 and started toward Temple #12. To get there, we had to back to the Izaka train station, but we were able to take a different route so we got to see more of the area. Just after we left the temple, we found a field of fruit trees that that been trimmed in a rather weird and fantastic way.

We stopped at a 7/11 convenience store for a snack and a sports drink. Japan is now full of convenience stores: 7/11, Lawsons, and three or four Japanese companies being the most common. They carry a huge range of things and a lot of young people do all their shopping there. The sell a variety of ready to eat food, most of which is quite good and cheap.

Along the road there were only a few houses and most of those were like this one -old in an need of repair.

Here is another that is actually beginning to fall down but apparently still being used for storage. The roof is so bad that it is covered with a large net to keep if from blowing off in the wind.

We were following a river that ran in a very deep, steep sided valley (canyon?).
