Oushuu33Kannon Temples 11-12-13 Part 11

As usual Ian and I were unable to pass a coffee shop. When we entered we were pleasantly surprised by retro atmosphere and the owner who chatted with us. These two pictures are ads for cigarettes. I have not seen anything like them for many, many years.

The inside of the shop was crowded with all sorts of things, a veritable museum. The owner, under the two lights in the center of the picture, perfectly looked the part of the custodian.
After passing up a second cup of coffee, we reluctantly left the coffee shop and proceeded on our way. We soon reached a bridge that would allow us to cross the river for the first time. The next two pictures show the contrasting views on the right and left as we crossed the bridge. The map showed that the road followed the bank on the right for a short ways before turning away from the river, so we knew that we would be leaving the built up area.

The reason the road went along the shore was that there was a large hill directly in front of the the bridge. We could see the roof of a temple at the top, but since it was not one of the 33 on our pilgrimage we did not climb up to it.
