Just a couple of meters away from the bus stop, I found this stone circle, constructed on top of a manhole cover. It definitely is not another Stonehenge, but it was interesting.
Since the lower branches are trimmed off the trees they all try to start new ones. I might even draw this one.
Also while I was thinking about vegetation, I noticed this flower growing up the side of a bamboo slat wall.
The next day, after teaching at Tohoku Gakuin U on this day, I went to Miyagi Gakuin U and saw the subject of the next picture from the teachers' lounge window.
The man has a water spray machine and he is cleaning the bricks. This is a women's university so they devote a lot of effort to keeping it clean. It is actually a treat to work there.
This man is also right below the teacher's lounge. He has a portable blower and is blowing the leaves and other loose stuff onto the grass.
The university, which became a university in 1949 and traces its history back to 1886, has been enlarged over the years. After the new buildings were built, they found that it was time consuming for the students to have to walk downstairs on one building and then up the stairs in another in order to reach their classrooms. The solution can be seen in this picture - a bridge between the buildings.
For a women's school that is so old, I still find it surprising that, until a year or so ago, you could see the men's room urinals from the hallway. This partition now blocks the view. From what I hear, the students were very happy about this.
On the way home, I reached the corner where the bridge, road and riverside path come together. Down the road on the left, you can see the scaffolding around a Japanese style hotel. The outside walls had developed severe cracks from the tremors and they are now being repaired.
Along the riverside path, the flowers are in full bloom.
