The trees are extremely strange looking. They are very short, the tops being only a little taller than me.
Just in front of the support for the bridge there are two workmen looking at something. There are survey posts in the sand so I assume that they are going to widen the actual river channel.
This sort of thing always surprises me. Along the side of the river there is a raised drainage ditch. I have not tried to trace its course, but I assume that it was built to supply water to the rice paddies. Although this area is now mostly housing, about ten years ago there were still a lot of rice paddies along both sides of the river. Today there are only a few and they are spotted here and there among the houses.
