Earthquake Diary 103

After passing through the rice paddies, I entered an area that had received much more damage than anything I had seen yet. The ground under this shed had dropped so it ended up at this angle.
This home has lost almost all of its roof tiles and, from the looks of the rest of it, will have to be torn down or be almost completely rebuild. Yesterday my wife went with friends to an area south of Sendai and talked to a farmer who had lost his home. He said that, due to a limited number of carpenters and a lack of building materials, his construction company said it would be at least a year before they can rebuild his home.
 This building has collapsed completely.
The front wall of this house has fallen off and left a huge gap.
This used to be a waist high concrete wall. The light blue object is a power shovel that is removing the remains of a house that was too damaged to save.
Here again the wall has collapsed and the whole building is tilted. However, the building is still being used as a shed for the work being done on surrounding buildings.
