This was rather surprising. It is a wall with the earthquake damage carefully marked out with blue tape. There was no indication as to what will be done about it, though.
Here another building is being torn down. The next time I come by here, there will be an empty lot.
The next day I went downtown and found some sort festival-like celebration taking place. There was live music that was apparently being broadcast on the radio as well as people dress up in Japanese armor.
The man on the platform is supposed to the Date (pronounced da-tay) Masamune, a famous and powerful local lord from the 16th century. The three warriors were posing with people from the audience.
The four men on the right in front of the pink wall were providing the music. They were not that good so I just continued on my way.
