Rugby

When there are sporting events at the local soccer stadium, they give away some tickets to people over 65. I always submit my name for the drawings and have gotten some tickets to soccer games. This time I got a pair of tickets to the pro-rugby leagues Charity All Star game. My wife and I went to see it. The above picture shows one of the true fan(atics), dressed to the nines, or I guess that since this is rugby it would be dressed to the fifteens.
Before the game started there was a short concert by some traditional Japanese drummers.
The Green Team in a huddle before the start of the game. Between each player was a kid in a pink charity shirt, very colorful.
The starting kickoff. The teams were the Greens and the Reds. The Greens won 73 to 50. It was a good game although the defense on both teams left a lot to be desired.
At one point this person in a tuna suit ran around the pitch advertising a sushi shop.
The next night I went to the Sendai Book Club, where we talked about "Treasure Island". Surprisingly all of our Japanese members enjoyed it. This picture is a blue tarp covered, damaged wall that I have shown before. However, now there is a row of dirt filled bags against the bottom of the wall. I assume that it must be getting weak.
Spring is officially here.
