The flowers at the official entry to Parktown are replanted often, so that they are always in bloom.
The red of the berries on this plant are not done justice by this picture. They were a very bright, strong color so the plant looked like Christmas.
They were finally repaving a section of the road that had buckled in the earthquakes.
I was a bit surprised that this water tower had not fallen in one of the tremors. However, it appeared to be in perfect shape, except maybe for a few new cracks.
The last time I came by here this was a Family Mart convenience store that was only a year or so old. A few years ago we had too many gas stations and many of them folded. Now there are too many convenience stores, so I expect that more and more of them will fail until only the productive ones are left.
I decided to avoid Izumi Chuo and to walk along the ridge line in Shogen. This is the beginning of the Shogen park.
The leafless trees at the corner were interesting.
This park surrounds a large pond which was mostly dried up. The pond holds the run off from the elevation behind the ridge line and since we have not had much rain lately the level was very low.
