A little further along the side of the pond, I came to this small park. The city has turned a small of plot of otherwise unusable land into a green oasis.
This house made me think that I was back in New England. Private homes in Japan seldom have fireplaces, but from the size of the chimney this one must have a large one.
The two-story building contains what we call a 100 shop. Everything in the store is priced at 100 yen, or about US$1.00. Most of the items are dry goods but there is also packaged food. Sometimes the things are very strange and it is fun to wander around just looking.
