Leaving Hachimangu

 I started down the hill again and the strangeness of the sunken path was very apparent.

 At the street again, but at the top of the stairs, I could clearly see the stones that have been placed on the torii. I really need to find someone who can tell me what this is all about.

While still standing at the top of the stairs, I looked across the street and saw what looked like it might be a graveyard or the grounds of a temple. I decided to go see in spite of having to walk to an intersection with a light and then back again, a trip that added almost a kilometer to my walk.
