Still walking along Nanakita River but in the other direction

I left the main road and followed the path along the riverside. A section of the route is on a public road, one that had been badly damaged. I discovered that most of the cracks had been filled in.
Here the crack along the side of the road had been filled with sand, probably by one of the neighbors. The barrier keeps cars from entering the park that is nearest my condo.
The neighbors take care of this flower garden on public property which they have formal permission to use. My condo is in the background.
Preparations were beginning for the annual festival for the river god, so the local Shito shrine was open.
These frames will eventually become tents that will hold traveling stores. The atmosphere for this part of the festival reminds me of the carnivals that used to travel around the US.
These lanterns serve at least two functions. They provide decorative light. In the past there would have been candles inside them, but now there are light bulbs. Also, the writing on them names the sponsors who donated money to pay for the costs of the festival.
