Oushuu33Kannon Temples 4-5 Part 25


The next picture will give you a better idea of what the shrine looked like in relation to the house and grounds.From a little further down the street, the inconsequentialness of the shrine becomes very apparent. This place made Ian and I wonder how the 33 Kannon statues were selected. I still do not have an answer but I have found that there is a book available from a publisher associated with the local newspaper that may have some answers in it. Someday soon I plan to go to the head office of the newspaper, which is the only place you can buy a copy, and get a copy to find out exactly what is in it.
We took a different route back to the station and on the way found a large civic center.
The road in front of the civic center was very un-Japanese looking, wide and straight with sidewalks and lawns on each side. You can see another section of the center on the right.
