Continuing east from Izumi Chuo a discovered a man painting a wall around a house. I assume that the wall was damaged in the quakes and have been repaired and that the finishing touches are now being added.
I turned north at the last road before the Sendai Bypass road. This road paralleled the Bypass and was lined with old houses and a few newer apartment buildings.
The stone fence posts around this memorial stele fell during the quakes and have not yet been replaced.
A few meters passed the stele I found something very unusual. The fact that trash was lying beside the road was not particularly unusual (there is a lot of it), but this consisted of bag of trash on top of a beer case. What was unusual was that most of the bottles were still full with the caps intact. I can not for the life of me figure how or why they got here.
Some of the house are very old looking. This rough wooden building is serving as a garage for a flashy new car.
The building in back is some kind of storage shed, but I could not see what was on the first floor, if anything, but the second floor was stuffed with the straw that is leftover from the rice harvest. Traditionally this straw was used for many things, from hats, to raincoats, to sandals, as well as being used to keep plants warm.
