The white building has a slightly strange shape and seems completely out of place. The empty area used to contain a building but it is long gone and, because of the poor economy (probably), nothing has replaced it.
Another building destroyed by the quakes is being replaced. The entire process is slower than we expected. The reason is a lack of manpower, equipment, and materials. I have heard that the few for a simple day laborer is now as much as 40,000 yen. That adds up to a very good year's pay, much higher than average. It appears that there are many reasons people from other areas of Japan are not coming here to work. Three the the more important reasons are a lack of housing, transportation problems between the housing and the jobs, and radiation levels.
