This morning's newspaper says that the aftershock that we had at supper time last night knocked down 25 more buildings in Miyagi Prefecture.
The Osaka Gas Company workers hard at work restoring our gas.
It does not show up well but there is a lot of damage to the lower part of this building, on the wall between the blue sign and the taller part. This is the local branch of the 77 Bank, the largest in Sendai, I think, at least the largest local bank. They have an interesting slogan, "Next to the 77 Bank there is a 77 Bank". In some places the branches are so close together that his is almost true. In any case it alludes to the huge number of branch offices that they have.
A while back I show a picture of this same spot beside the 77 Bank. At that time this space was filled with debris. In the few days since the first picture they have cleaned it up completely.
This truck has signs taped to the front and the doors saying that it is an emergency vehicle. This allows it to get preference at gas stations and to use roads that are off limits to regular cars. It is intersting that this is not being abused, as far as I can tell.
The basement supermarket and associated small shops in Selva were open. Tomone was enjoying a bottle of tea from home and a chocolate donut from Mister Donut, which had just reopened.
