Earthquake Diary 73

This is what remains of the main entrance to the condo next door to mine.
This old house is near my home. A construction crew was starting to tear it down. I could not be sure but it looked like it was badly damaged in the tremors. It is possible that, however, that this was planned before the quakes. Nearby at least three old home have been torn down and replaced by new buildings during the last year.
This is the apartment building that we can see out our living room. The building in the first picture is west of mine but this one is to the south along the river bank. The part of the building in this picture is a space from which trash is collected. It used to rest on the ground, now it has about 10 centimeters of empty space under it, only its connection to the main building is supporting it.
Here a step of about 10 cm was caused by the large cracks (you can see two going down the hill into the distance). Someone has stuck sticks down into the crack to warn people of the height difference.
Between the white fence and the building, there is a small canal. The wall separating the house from the canal has fallen and is being repaired.
This is an animal hospital, about 500 meters from my condo, that was badly damaged. The pile of stuff beside the building is broken roof tiles.
This another group of Osaka Gas workers, trying to get the gas flowing again. My conod is in an area called Takadama-cho but this area which is behind my place is called Yuai-cho. Yuai-cho was very badly damaged, probably because it is much older than my area.
