This is a new building, actually still under construction, and the work crew is repairing damage from one of the strong aftershocks. Many place have been repaired multiple times.
This the bridge on Suisen Dori that spans the main road in Izumi Chuo. You can see how much the bridge has shifted away from the ground where I am standing. To give a better sense of size, the grey wall is about a meter high.
A while back I showed a construction crew putting in a new garden during the period after the quake. This is the finished product. The line of colored objects are pieces of painted wood, each signed by the artists who were apparently school children,
Other new construction was also going on. According to a sign this site on Suisen Dori is going to contain an art gallery.
This is a line of people waiting for a bus. You might notice how far apart they are. To a Western eye Japanese, lines seem more like a dashed line than a solid line.
The door into the subway station was open for the first time. However, the subway (the entrance is dark area in the center) was still closed. People were able to use the underground halls to reach this point and the line for the free bus that is replacing the subway.
