These are still pictures that I took the day after the quake. This is the entrance to an apartment building. You can see the broken concrete laying on the floor.
Here is a place where the ground has fallen away from a manhole.Many of the places where there are underground openings, sewers, utilities, and that sort of thing, the ground sunk relative to the surrounding surface.
This is at Izumi Chuo. It is the stairs that I normally take to get to the level where there is a Starbucks. Yesterday I passed the same spot and they are still allowing people to use the stairs so I guess it is structurally sound.
On the upper level they had already cordoned off the most damaged areas.
On the right above the Starbucks sign you can see where pieces of the facing on the wall have fallen off.
Here is another place where the wall cracked.
This is the pedestrian bridge over the main road. As you can see it is damage but still passable. I did not have any hesitation at all about using it.
On the side of the bridge away from Izumi Chuo there is a large building with bars and beauty shops. The sidewalk was badly damaged here.
